[Let's Watch] Disney's Big Hero 6

Whoa! Today well and truly got away from me, didn't it? I had planned to post this up much earlier but I got proper stuck in to my spring cleaning, laundry sorting and even snuck in an impromptu trip to Ikea to buy a new set of drawers. I lead a glamourous life, clearly. So, what have I got for you today? A film review! So,

I can't believe us Brits had to wait so long for Disney's latest offering, that seems to have been released everywhere else about three months ago. It feels like a whole forever has passed that i've been waiting, and as luck would have it, I won two tickets to see it the weekend before it's big release! If only i'd have actually seen that e-mail... And not had to wait another week to catch it in Cinemas! :(

[Let's Watch] Anastasia

Once upon a December, well, actually it was more like March by the time Anastasia hit UK cinemas way back in 1998, I think... I don't actually remember the dates, so we're going with the Wikipedia dates here. I do however, clearly remember a little me wandering into the old Odeon building with my mum. I'd have been six years old, and remember the amazement that despite being the only two people for that particular showing, the show still went on. We sat smack bang in the middle of the room with the giant screen looming over us, and it was glorious. So today, i'm going to share with you a film that I love, still to this day. A whopping sixteen years later!

Let's Watch

I watch Anastasia at least once every Winter, and I think tonight might just be the night I snuggle up in my PJ's and pop it in the DVD player. This is the film that made me, as a little girl, fall in love with cinema, film and the idea of one day visiting Russia. Anastasia is often confused as being a Disney film, but it's actually Fox animation. The story comes from that of a historical Russian princess, The Grand Duchess Anastasia, daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. In reality*, Anastasia and her family were executed during the Russian Revolution. However, there were rumours that the Grand Duchess survived, and it inspired several films.

[Let's Watch] House M.D

There aren't many shows I can honestly say I've seen every single episode of, especially not ones that ran for eight whole seasons. Although i've seen a a very large chunk of Friends, CSI and Criminal Minds, i'm sure I must have missed an episode here and there. Although with this series, i've sat through the entire box set, so i'm sure I haven't missed a thing.

Let's Watch

House M.D is an American medical based drama, casting its own spin on the genre. The series follows Dr. Gregory House and his team practicing diagnostic medicine at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, New Jersey. House is to medicine, as Sherlock Holmes is to crime. An undisputed, yet unorthodox genius in their chosen fields.

[Let's Watch] The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 1

Splitting a film into two parts has become pretty popular in recent years, huh? Generally, it annoys me. You get to the end of a film, but you're only half way through? Whaaaaat!? It throws me completely off balance. That being said, it wasn't stopping me popping to the cinema for another one....
Let's Watch

The thing I like most about The Hunger Games movies, is feeling that they haven't cut out big chunks of the books. I thought that the Catching Fire film had pretty much everything that Suzanne Collins wrote in the book. I was actually really happy about the fact that Mockingjay was being split into two, as it made it even more likely that all the detail from the books will be put on screen.

[Let's Watch] Elementary

Books, films, hit BBC shows... Brought to life by faces such as famous faces such as Sir Ian McKellen, Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch and a whole host of others dating back to 1905! It's more than fair to say that Sherlock is a story well told. But well told and told well are worlds apart.  Like this particular adaptation of the literary classic penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, that's not like any you've seen before...

[Let's Watch] Gone Girl

So many times I promise myself i'll read the book first, but then I don't get around to it and still really want to see the movie. Well i'd seen good things about a certain book that was meant to be really good, and it had a film adaptation in cinemas... So again, I made the promise "I'll read the book first." Buuut, I didn't. Whoops. So,
Let's Watch

You know those nights when you stay up until ridiculous o'clock watching NCIS: Los Angeles and Hawaii Five-O on Sky, and it feels like every ad break that annoying top ten movies chart comes on? Well after what felt like forever seeing Gone Girl top both the US and UK charts, I couldn't stand to not know what the fuss was all about any longer. Sorry book, i'll have to read you later.
May Contain Spoilers.

[Let's Watch] Mean Girls

It's October third*...

Let's Watch

My news feed has been full of Mean Girls references today, so what better day to sit down and watch what is probably the most quotable movie of all time?
*It was when I started typing, I swear.

[Let's Watch] Friends

September feels nostalgic to me. So what better thing to sit back and watch this month than an oldie but goodie that is 20 years old today? Yup, it's a very special anniversary that I think is going to have most of us sat in front of the TV. So without further adieu,

Let's Watch

Hasn't everyone watched Friends? It's nearly as old as me!

[Let's Watch] Captain America : The Winter Soldier

So last week was my dads birthday, meaning we all sat down to watch something as a family with some yummy food. Now we all have completely different taste in film, but I eventually wore everyone (my protesting 'I don't watch superhero movies brother...) because I knew my dad would really like this one... Soooo,
Let's Watch

I'd already seen this and really enjoyed it, and I knew it was definitely my dads sort of thing. I figured Scarlett Johansson would be enough to keep my brother entertained. Turns out, he actually liked the movie anyway. As always, the following is NOT a spoiler free zone...

[Let's Watch] Once Upon A Time

Who saw my wishlist post the other day?
Well I went ahead and ordered Once Upon a Time season 3 on dvd, because I can not wait any longer. Seriously, i'm going crazy. It's been dispatched, Mr Postie where for art thou!? No srs. #impatient

Let's Watch

My friend loves this series. He went on, and on and on about it until I caved and downloaded an episode. Then he didn't stop nagging me until I watched it. So eventually I got my mum and dad to sit down with me and watch. We've been hooked since, and mums been getting all her friends to watch.

I think next time he tells me to watch something, i'm just going to do it. Boy's got taste.

For now, i'm just going to talk about the first two seasons, and i'll give you an update after season three. If I can. It may just be muffled screams of frustration that season 4 hasn't graced our screens yet. (Although the new additions to the cast of season four have been confirmed, and I can't wait!)

Are you ready to enter the SPOILER zone?

[Let's Watch] Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy

Who'd like to see another film review? You would? Well you're in the right place because today I bring you my thoughts on Marvel's latest offering which has been raking in the units at the box office this week. So away we go;
Let's Watch

Just gonna start of by saying that I saw this yesterday at the cinema, and tricked my friend into eating Wasabi popcorn as a prank... It backfired spectacularly when it turns out he likes wasabi popcorn... (I personally think wasabi is like biting the lit end of a firework, and it's not really my thing. Too spicy!)

As always, this is not a spoiler free zone, but I do my best to keep it to a minimum!

[Let's Watch] Disney's Frozen

I'm not sure if i've mentioned this on the blog yet, but I was a film student. I recently retired graduated, but kicking back with a film is still topping my list of ways to spend time. So what better series to introduce to my blog than some film reviews? These are going to be a regular thing, and may contain spoilers, but i'll try and keep them to a minimum. So without further ado...

Let's Watch
Disney's 52nd animated and Oscar winning film Frozen finally hit DVD last week and continues to dazzle audiences, becoming the top grossing animated film across the world.* I couldn't even get my hands on a copy of the DVD at my local store, but I did catch it in cinemas.
There may be spoilers below...

[Let's Watch] About Time!

Ello you.
Do excuse my absence these last few days. I felt a bit under the weather and worked a lot. Did ya miss me? :p

Well i've just got back from work and it's getting late, so today i'm going to post up a film review!

WARNING! This post may contain spoilers!
(but i'll try and keep it short, sweet and cryptic!)

The other day I met up with a good friend of mine i've not been able to see in a few months. (Long distance friendships suck. How do you lovers out there manage it!?) We popped out for some shopping, drinkies, yummy food and a cinema trip! Well as we couldn't agree on anything else, we settled for the film 'About Time' as I rather like one of the actors in it. (Score!)
