[Let's Watch] The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 1

Splitting a film into two parts has become pretty popular in recent years, huh? Generally, it annoys me. You get to the end of a film, but you're only half way through? Whaaaaat!? It throws me completely off balance. That being said, it wasn't stopping me popping to the cinema for another one....
Let's Watch

The thing I like most about The Hunger Games movies, is feeling that they haven't cut out big chunks of the books. I thought that the Catching Fire film had pretty much everything that Suzanne Collins wrote in the book. I was actually really happy about the fact that Mockingjay was being split into two, as it made it even more likely that all the detail from the books will be put on screen.

My Little Cosy Box

Great minds think alike. Or in this case, great beauty boxes think alike. When it comes to subscriptions I think My Little Box is my favourite, so I was really happy to see they were also going with the 'Cosy' angle for November.
Although it seemed to take forever for my box to arrive this month. They usually arrive quite sharpish, so I was a little baffled.

"Hey Big Spender!" Festive £25+ Gift Guide

Good day! The final part of my gift guide series has arrived! This time I bring you a showcase of some of the most amazing beauty gifts, quirky toys and budget busting showstopper gifts.

Beauty

In the world of beauty gifts everyone has really out done themselves this year. Everywhere you look there's a must have gift set, with great products in adorable packaging. I'm really hoping Santa gets the memo and there's a little MAC and Urban Decay under the tree for me this year! You may need Santa, or at least a little luck as over half of these are sold out online! Never fear, you've plenty of time to find them.

Novelty
Good friends, good food, good reads and comfy pjs... What else do we need at Christmas? (Aside from the family... :p) A minion of your own? Got you covered with this selection of gifts, and all coming in at under £50, you'll have some pennies spare to treat the giftee to some cute extras.

Super Big Spenders

Got a bigger budget to treat someone really special? A pastel ice watch will make a great gift, or a gorgeous set of GHD's like the Wonderland styler. I love my Ice Watch in mint, and they come in really great packaging to make it an extra cool gift. I have no idea what those Xeno things are, but I'd have been all about that as a kid. In the beauty realm, splash out on the bumper WOW! giftset from Lush, Nars' Vault or the really sweet BonBon set.

That's all for now, but don't forget to check out my more budget friendly guides too!

Have you seen anything to add to your Christmas wish list? How about your shopping lists?
Let me know! Happy Shopping!

Festive Gift Guide : Under £25

Happy Saturday, or what's left of it... I may have gotten a little distracted earlier on in the day from posting this, but here I am! I am back with the second part of my gift guide!

Beauty
Lush gift sets are always a good call for bath fiends, and Festive Friends is packed full of super cute bits and bobs. The Library of Fragrance scents are an awesome and unusual gift, and they're on offer so you can fix two gifts in with a £25 budget! Stay tuned over the next few days, I'll be posting a review of the lovely Sparkle Baby palette!

Novelty
£20 or so is a perfect budget to snap up a bunch of different quirky gifts from jewellery, to purses and wash bags. Scented candles also make a great gift and they don't get much better than Flamingo or Yankee Candles.

Pyjamas
Who doesn't love a good snuggly new pair of PJ's at Christmas? Surprisingly, supermarkets are a really great place to pick up cool character nightwear. Try Tesco for these vintage inspired Frosties pj's. They're greeeaaat!*
*I've been waiting to say something like that since Summer, when I got a pair of Frosties pj's.

Food & Drink
Some fancy chocolates and tipples always make nice gifts. Flavoured vodka, tea or champers in a cracker, anyone? How about some fancy truffles or chocolate gift sets? Popcorn would make a nice gift for a family or kids too, ready to be munched on Christmas day with a festive flick.

Kids
I'm awful when it comes to picking presents for children, but can you really go long with the classics from your own childhood, like the Hungry Caterpillar and Peter Rabbit? You can never go wrong with Batman that's for sure! The Anna and Elsa soft toys are so cute, and you can get both with a £25 budget! If I see Elsa in Disneyland, I'll be bringing her home with me. That's if I don't pick her up in the Disney Store next week!

For Spoilt Little Bunnies...
Remy loves her cardboard castle... Even if she has literally torn a turret off it and it's time to replace it. She uses it as both toy and hideaway, so the little monkey will be getting a new one for Christmas.

Need more ideas? Check out yesterdays post for Stocking Fillers and Secret Santa : £10 & Under. Stick around, tomorrows gift guide is packed with budget busting goodies!

Gift Guide : Stocking Fillers & Secret Santa - £10 & Under

I've been super prepared this year and i've already rounded up all of my Christmas gifts. But now we're full steam ahead to the Christmas season and the gift ranges have landed, it seems that everyone has really brought their A-Game when it comes to their festive gift ranges this year. From M.A.C to Asda, even Pets at Home! It seems that everyone has a whole host of awesome bits and bobs for everyone.

Finding quirky and cool gifts is one of my favourite things to do, so I thought i'd share with you some of my top finds from my festive gift hunting.

Beauty.
Nail polish and shower gels make great stocking fillers. Treacle Moon's Warm Cinnamon Nights will last a long time, and it smells amazing. And I know technically the OPI Nordic collection set is over £10, but it's only 15 pennies...

Novelty.
I love little novelty gifts. How cute is the cotton wool dispenser? I hope Santa is reading, because i'd like one of those please! The Gift of Nothing is the perfect gag gift. I bought one a few years ago for my Granddad. It actually comes with detailed instructions and is all round a good giggle.

Yummy.

You can never go wrong with chocolate and sweets at Christmas really can you? Its something that suits all ages, and tastes, and can easily be picked up without breaking the bank. Hotel Chocolat's festive range is top notch this year. I can't wait to get paws on the Salted Caramel one. Yummy!

Entertainment.
Why not knock a few stocking fillers off your list while doing your weekly shop? That's multi-tasking at its finest. The Tesco entertainment section is where i'm heading to stock up on dvds and the like. Don't forget to shop around, but for convenience, Tesco prices are pretty fab.

For the Kids.
As a child, my stocking was always filled to the brim with cute stuff. Frozen things will go down a storm with little girls, if you can get your hands on them! I think every child should have Top Trumps, and they come in so many different varieties you'll find a pack to suit everyone. I used to have some Buffy ones, I wonder where they went?

Stay tuned, I'll be sharing more Christmas gifts tomorrow!

Byron Burgers : Beak Street London

Ever since reading Tattooed Tea Lady's post about Byron Burgers, I was dying to go and try the courgette fries. I'm usually the furthest away from these interesting places, but finally a little bit of luck as I was actually going to be in London visiting a friend and flat out demanded she take me. There are a few in London and as we were shopping on Oxford Street, we weren't far from one, so dipped in for a well deserved break.

If you ignore the fact we went the wrong way about three times, Byron was actually really easy to find. Past Hamleys store and look for the Beak Street sign, turn there, then it's just before Illamasqua (which we of course popped into when we'd finished our food).

I can't make my mind up about the interior. The exposed kitchen was a nice touch,  although from our seats we couldn't really see it past the intricate staircase. Everything looked nice and clean, but I was kind of expecting something sleek and modern. The Beak Street store was more industrial in style. It kind of reminded me of somewhere i'd expect to eat in The Foundry... You know, from The Urbz ps2 game...

Inside the door is the little greaters podium, we were there a few seconds before receiving a really enthusiastic greeting. It was quite quiet at about half 12, so it was quite quiet and we were served pretty quick. By the time we left about an hour later it had filled up a lot more.

The staff were really friendly, even the chefs looked cheery. I eavesdropped a little on our servers conversation with a nearby table, (sorry!) she really knowledgeable about the company, their locations and the food they served. I saw a few different members of staff around, and thought it was pretty quirky how their uniform consisted of t-shirts with things like cheese or pickle written on them.

So onto the food! I of course went for 'the Veggie burger'. Grilled portobello mushroom, roasted red pepper, goat’s cheese, baby spinach, tomato, red onion and aioli. It didn't feel like eating a 'fast food' at all. It tasted very healthy, fresh and totally yummy. The bun was nice and soft, the mushroom was a really tasty one, the grilled pepper was prepared just right, and the extra toppings complimented it perfectly. I'm supposed to be on a diet, and I didn't feel naughty chowing down on this at all. It really feels like a lot of thought went into the creation of the vegetarian option and it's really refreshing to be offered something so different. Not that i've got anything against bean burgers... But they can get a little boring after a while.

Veggie Burger £7.95 || Courgette Fries £3.50

The courgette fries are a great twist on a classic side. I expected these to be a little like tempura, but they weren't. The batter was really light, and not greasy at all. But the cut and the batter made it a bit more fun than just eating courgette. They tasted fresh and were really well cooked. I know i've tried to cook courgette before and gotten it horribly wrong...

 Classic Burger £6.75  || French Fries £2.95

My non veggie buddy went for a classic burger and fries combo. She said her burger was well prepared and not at all greasy, neither were the fries. I can confirm that, I nabbed a few to test for myself. Just so I could report back, of course... Things I do for you, hey? :p

For the two of us, the bill came to £25 something...  So we both paid £15 each and left the change as a tip for our server who was great. For lunch in central London, I don't think £15 each was bad at all and our tummies stayed full for quite I while, even with all the walking we did that day. (According to my phone, i'd done five miles by the time I got on my bus back home.) We were going to have a dessert to, but as we felt full we changed our minds. Since seeing pics of them on trip advisor i'm glad. I think i'd have popped after one of those!

Overall, Byron is somewhere we would visit again.

[Review] Kat Von D : Studded Kiss Lipstick Set

Following my review of the Sephora Give Me Some Lip set, I thought i'd show you the other set I picked up in my order. So today I have the fabulous Kat Von D Studded Kiss mini lipstick set to show you. The set costs $39, which is about £25.77 and contains 9 mini lipsticks.

When the Studded Kiss Lipsticks were first released, I bought the shade Gothica almost straight away because on the original swatches it stole my heart as soon as I laid eyes on it. The 'sparkling bronze' shade wasn't like anything I owned, so I had to have it! I later went on to pick up Lullabye, a 'sparkling magenta violet' in a blog sale.

Sephora say this set is worth $126, so $14 for each mini. Each mini contains 0.04oz, about 1.2grams. A full size Studded Kiss lipstick is $21 and contains 0.10oz of product, which is over 2.5 grams. So at almost half the size, i'd have said each one would be worth about $11 at a bare minimum, so i'd agree with the estimate worth of the set. Especially when looking at the attention to detail on the packaging.

Size Comparison.

The set contains six matte, one metallic and two iridescent lipsticks. So it's predominately matte lipsticks. There's a nice range of colours as well, four of which are red toned, two neutral, two brights and a nice dark cherry shade.

 Countess || Adora || Hexagram
Countess : Matte Hot Orange Red.
I actually liked this a lot more when I swatched it than I did in the bullet. It seems very orange, but the hints of red come out when on the skin. I wont wear this over the Winter, but it'll be probably be topping my list of colours to wear in the Summer.
Adora : Metallic Golden Red.
Adora is seriously beautiful, and performed really well in the shower test, and came out virtually untouched. The metallic gold tone to this red gives it a nice shimmer. Words are actually failing me to describe this. I think you have to see it and try it on to really appreciate how stunning this one is.
Hexagram  : Matte Blood Red.
I wouldn't personally call this a blood red, but it is a really nice deep blue based red. I do prefer a darker colour especially with reds, and the blue base makes it a nice fit for my pale skin. It's a good winter shade too, so it's a thumbs up from me.

 Sexer || Bachelorette || Wonderchilde
Sexer : Iridescent Fluorescent Pink.
Sexer is a really bright sexy pink and it looks amazing. Although it says it's iridescent it doesn't seem very sparkly or iridescent at all... Although it is definitely fluorescent!
Bachelorette : Matte Reddish Fuchsia.
This pink based red looks more like a red based pink to me, if that makes any sense. It is most certainly a red/pink blend even though it looks quite red in the bullet. I can see this being really nice for day time.
Wonderchilde : Iridescent Neon Lilac.
There's a strange scuffing on the bullet of this one, which made me a little sad. I expected this to be a little grainy like the texture of Lullabye and Gothica, but it wasn't really. It is a really bright and sparkly neon colour.

Lovecraft || Mötorhead || Agatha
Rabbit fur gets everywhere...
Lovecraft : Matte Mauve Pink Nude.
This one is everything I had hoped it would be. A very pretty neutral that gets a 10 on the staying power scale. I wore this out for a work meal, and didn't touch up once. It didn't feel too drying to me either, but it might be a tad on the dry side now the weather is colder.
Mötorhead : Matte Black Cherry.
This one looks quite dark in the bullet, maybe even more brownish than black cherry, but it is a seriously lush darkened plummy cherry shade when worn. It seemed to transfer off really easily and didn't last through eating a meal. Although my fork was a lovely purpley shade when I was done...
Agatha : Matte Pale Peach Nude.
This one stood up pretty well to the shower test, some had come off but the overall colour remained. However, it looked absolutely awful on me. I can imagine this being gorgeous on a darker skin tone, but i'm pretty pale, and it was just icky.

I was hoping to do some on the lips swatches, but since the cold weather arrived it's played hell with my poor lips, so I just swatched them on my arm instead. As my luck would have it, the scratches Remy left on my arms at the vets have cleared up just nicely by now.

I like darker lip colours, and shades like Hexagram and Mötorhead are great for autumn/winter. So they will probably be my most regularly used in the upcoming months. The stars of the set for me are Adora and Lovecraft, both absolutely stunning colours. I don't see myself wearing Agatha, as it really doesn't suit my skin tone. The others are all nice extras to have in my stash, so that makes me a happy bunny indeed!

I really like these lipsticks, and i'd definitely consider buying more shades. I've got my eye on Poe, Wolvesmouth and Cathedral.

Are you lusting after any of Kat Von D products?  Let me know what you fancy!

[Top Five] Disney Villain Songs.

It's three and a half weeks until I head to Paris, so now it's really time to crack on with the important stuff. Like making an awesome playlist! I picked up an awesome Transformers headphone splitter so I can share some tunes with my travel buddy on the plane. Our playlist wouldn't be complete without iconic Disney offerings like 'Hakuna Matata' and 'Under the Sea', but without a doubt some of the best Disney songs, come from the villains. Today's Top Five will count down to what I believe is the best, Disney Villain Song, ever!

Drumroll please...
Honourable Mentions;
Rasputin - In The Dark of the Night; Anastasia
It's not Disney, but it is freaking catchy as heck.
Dr. Facilier : Friends On The Other Side - The Princess and the Frog
I love this, but it doesn't have the same weight and oomph as the top five.

And so, we begin our countdown.

5 | Mother Gothel : Mother Knows Best - Rapunzel
Mother Gothel 'knows best'* how to make a really catchy villain song...    *couldn't resist...

4 | Ursula : Poor Unfortunate Souls - The Little Mermaid
Ursula's song for all those 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' sure has got some kick to it. Don't you think?

3 | Scar : Be Prepared - The Lion King
Be Prepared by Scar is probably the catchiest of them all, but it only ranks him at number 3 in terms of villainy.

2 | Lock Shock & Barrel : Kidnap The Sandy Claws - The Nightmare Before Christmas
<<source>>
These three may not be considered villains, but any song with the lyrics 'kidnap the Sandy Claws, chop him into bits', has to score pretty highly on the villainy scale, right?

1 | Frollo - Hellfire; The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Frollo's Hellfire is pretty damn sinister, compared to other villain offerings. It may not be the catchiest, but in terms of Frollo's words, it's quite evil...

There we have it, my Top 5 villain songs. Do you agree? Let me know how your top five would sound! Maybe I should do a top 5 Disney songs next... I don't think I could narrow it down!

Maybe a Top 10....

See you next time!

[Let's Watch] Elementary

Books, films, hit BBC shows... Brought to life by faces such as famous faces such as Sir Ian McKellen, Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch and a whole host of others dating back to 1905! It's more than fair to say that Sherlock is a story well told. But well told and told well are worlds apart.  Like this particular adaptation of the literary classic penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, that's not like any you've seen before...

[Unboxing] Cosy At Home : November Birchbox

I was genuinely excited when I saw the theme reveal for November's 'Cosy at Home' theme. It's exactly the kind of theme I was hoping to see in November. Dispatch day seemed to come really early this month. Guess they really wanted us to make the most of our cosy November huh?
The spoilers looked great; Dr Jart, Beauty Protector, OPI and English Laundry we're all products I was excited by the prospect of receiving. This months box was a lot heavier than any box I think i've had so far... Which was a little exciting. So, shall we delve in and see what goodies it holds?

Yankee Candle Christmas Advent Calender

I've been bad. Very, very bad. Yup. I only went and opened all the doors on my advent calender already. In fact, I pried those little doors open the second it arrived in mid October. I couldn't stop myself, I wanted to see what the lovely hidden tea lights smelt like! The entire package itself smelt really nice, so you can't blame me really.

The Yankee Candle advent calender comes in this quirky shaped box, with a beautiful white silver and blue wreath style packaging. If I could find a wreath that looked like this, I think i'd buy it. Behind each window is a different tea light, and two for Christmas Eve, making 25 tea lights in total.

The calender costs £25, so about £1 per tealight. Which seems really pricey if you think that you can buy the tea lights as individual scents in a 12 pack. (That's 60p per candle.) But the calender does include a good variety of scents, and the packaging is beautiful. When spread across the advent period, and not just as soon as you get it like I did, it's a nice alternative to chocolate advents without splashing out on a beauty advent...

There are six different candle scents in the calender, some are new for this year and a few I remember seeing around last year.

 <<source>>

Snowflake Cookie : A new Christmas tradition that is sure to charm: perfectly pretty holiday cookies, deliciously decorated with sugary pink icing.
Icicles : The crisp, winter forest scent of ice covered pine branches with tingly notes of spicy cinnamon.
Angel's Wings : Spirits rise on this beautiful airy aroma of joyfully sweet spun sugar, heavenly sheer flower petals and divinely smooth vanilla.
Cranberry Ice : Refreshingly tart and sweet! A cool, stimulating rush of frosty red fruits bursting with a tangy sweetness.
Christmas Cookie : Buttery rich, vanilla scented, holiday sugar cookies.
Christmas Garland "The season comes to life in this lush aroma of fresh-cut pine boughs and zesty cranberries.

Icicles, Angel's Wings and Christmas Cookie are my favourite from the candle. Icicles is fresh like a chilly morning, where Angel's Wings and Christmas Cookie are sweeter. Christmas Garland is quite similar to Christmas Wreath which I have a large jar of and really like. It smells like Christmas tree to me.

Have any of you picked up this advent calender? Did you have a little more will power than I did?

Let me know!
